Avatar Movie Poser

Have you seen “Avatar?” Not thinking it was a genre that would hold my attention, I finally succumbed to the insistent urgings of my motion graphics designer son, Gavin, to go. I must say . . .  I was blown away! The 3-D aspect unleashed the unadulterated childlike wonder that we all too often subvert as we go through life as bona fide grown-ups. I suspended the usual 2-D “reality” of watching a movie and for a while, truly believed that those little ephemeral creatures REALLY were wafting out into the audience, approaching my very own seat. I can’t tell you how many times a “Wow” escaped with an exhalation.

Not only is “Avatar” a great example of astounding creativity and current-day artistic Mastery on James Cameron’s part, but it is also a testimony to serious creative teamwork. It boggled my mind to think of how many different people and talents went into making this the masterpiece that it is. In all, 2,000 people contributed a piece of their own excellence, working together to make this movie such a cohesive work of art. Even though Cameron is getting all of the media publicity and accolades, don’t forget for a minute—as you watch or remember in awe—the remarkable team that allowed this visionary movie to become a reality.
